This morning I stopped at the Chick-fil-a and had breakfast. After breakfast I continued walking on Hwy 202 for about
4 hours. I decided to try and get out of the hot sun for a couple of hours so I found a soccer field. I went into it and
found a small patch of trees that offered great concealment. It was still hot and muggy, but It was better than having
the hot sun on my head. I rested for about 3 hours when suddenly a bunch of people showed up to play soccer. I was
laying within a few feet of the edge of the soccer field. One fella came very near me and I shouted out to him that I
was in the tent very near him. He looked shocked and stated he didn't even see my tent. I told him I wanted to get
going and get some more walking in before dark. I got up and packed my tent and met the soccer teams and shared
about my journey. They all wished me luck and I set off.
I continued on to the Junction of Hwy 202 and Hwy 73 where I found a nice sandwich shop. I met a couple of guys
there and shared with them about my journey for nearly an hour. They are Justin Burkholder and Dave Hope. They
gave me some good advice where I could pitch my tent.
I walked on down the road and found a fairly good place to set up my tent. It was very close to the main road just
behind some trees. Sometimes I wonder how funny most people would look if they knew there was someone in a tent
just behind the trees this close to the highway.
I would like to talk a little bit about my health and condition. I am really doing great. I only take half a tablet for blood
pressure now. I haven't taken the other medicines now for nearly 2 months. I simply don't need them any more. My
blood sugar level stays normal. My congestive heart failure is doing great without medicine. I now have loose skin
hanging down where it used to be firm fat. My face has gotten a lot smaller. My cloths fit much better. I can now put
on my socks and shoes with no difficulty. Over all, I am doing real good. I am averaging 10 - 15 miles a day. Carrying
the 60 lbs is getting easier. I still have not had any blisters. I am on my 6th pair of shoes and they have about a week
left on them. I have worn out 2 pairs of New Balance, 1 pair of Spira shoes, and 3 pairs of Aetrex. I can tell you that
Aetrex wins hands down for comfort and endurance and I will wear only Aetrex shoes from now on. Aertrix shoes are
the first shoes that Darlene Schmitt with set me up with. I can say for sure that she knows her business when
it comes to shoes and feet.
I also want to mention that Dr. Juli Herring from Jacksonville, Florida is going to accompany me from California through
the desert. Dr. Juli and her husband Bert are both Medical Doctors and have dedicated their skills to helping Obese
people. They have put together perhaps the best diet ever and in my opinion will completely revolutionize losing
weight in the near future. You will be hearing a lot about Doctors Judi and Bert Herring in the near future. The plans
are being drawn up now for her to accompany me. Her parents will follow us with extra water and food. This will sure
make my journey safer through the desert. You can read more about them by going to their website.at:
I will probably be in NYC by the end of next week. I can't wait to get there and end that part of my trip. I can say
though that I have met some of the most wonderful people in the whole world during my journey so far. I will come
back with my Wife Cheryl and revisit all my new friends. They have touched my heart and I want to make them proud
of me by seeing me skinny again.
This Journey has also changed me. I have become a much more humble and spiritual person that I was before.
There are so many things that I will change when I get home. I want to help others and be much more active. I know I
must walk for the rest of my life in order to stay healthy. I want to be a great husband to my wife Cheryl. I can not
imagine sitting in front of the TV any more. Or those long hours on the computer are gone forever. Teaching Kids
about the dangers of obesity will be my main priority.
I want to thank all of my new friends from St. Louis to New Jersey for all the kindness they have shown me. I haven't
met a bad person out here and I am so grateful to God for leading me to meet all the wonderful people I have met.
I go to sleep tonight being completely satisfied about all this journey has done for me and others that I have met. Take
care all, and have a wonderful night. Gary, "Keep on Walking, one foot in front of the other."

Today I woke up early but stayed in my tent until about 7:30 am. I tore it down and walked on into Montgomeryville,
Pa. Once there one of my sponsors and a close friend Carolyn Clark got me a room at the Quality Inn. I was happy to
get a hot shower and the stay was very nice. I was able to get caught up on my laundry and sleep.
I decided to post a couple of pictures of me. I am losing a lot of weight and the loose skin is hanging down under my
arms and stomach.
I will start posting updates from April - June very soon. Take care all, Gary, "Keep on Walking, one foot in front of the

Today I left Montgomeryville going north on Hwy 202. It was early afternoon when I got to Chalfont, Pa. There was a
guy named Jim that recognized me and ask me if he could by me a soda or something cold to drink. We were in front
of a nice place called the Sky Line so I said I would. I went inside with him and he introduced me to a lot of people that
were very friendly and wanted to know about my journey.
These are the folks that I met and talked with. After hearing about the Bear that I came face to face with in Sideling
State Park, Jamie Miller insisted that he buy me a movie camera so I can film some of these things I experience on my
journey. So I went with him back to Montgomeryville and he bought me a video camera. It isn't digital, so I can't put
any thing on the website. None the less, I should get some interesting tape for later use. Jamie allowed me to spend
the night at his place because it was getting late. We had a great time. He must have had a movie collection of
several thousand movies. He could start a movie rental store. We watched the classic Buddy Holly movie. It started
raining and after the movie I went to sleep on the couch. I would like to say thanks to Jamie for his friendly hospitality
and generosity. "Keep on Walking, one foot in front of the other."

This morning I woke up Early and Jamie and I went to McDonalds. It was still raining so I decided to sit it out there.
Jamie left and went to meet Jim to do some business.
It was just after noon when the rain stopped so once again, I walked from Montgomeryville to Chalfont. The exact
same walk I had done the day before. Once in Chalfont I stopped at the Solid Rock Cafe. It is a very nice coffee and
cake cafe. I met some wonderful people and right away they offered me anything I need. They had wireless internet
so I was able to get on line and check email. Before long many folks came in from the local Church named Calvary
Chapel. I talked with everyone sharing some of my journey for about an hour. I used the video camera and recorded
Everyone else i got on video and didn't take their pics like I normally do. I wasn't thinking as to how I was going to get
their pics from the video camera to the website. I must remember to always take pics even if I video tape. I would like
to say thanks to Eric, Winn, Janet, Gail, Don, Joe and Roger for talking with me and making me feel welcome. I will
come to your church someday when I return with my wife and see you guys again.
After meeting everyone, I stayed and worked on the computer until about 5 pm. Then I loaded up my things and said
goodbye to them and started out heading north on Hwy 202 again. I walked on into New Britain and stopped at a nice
place to get a cold diet pepsi. It is very hot out side and It feels good to get inside.
