| March, Page 6 Journal entry, 3-31-06 Today I woke up at around 7:30 am. My host offered to cook me breakfast but I declined. I wanted to get going because I am going to meet up with the 60 minutes crew from Australia this afternoon. They brought my wife Cheryl with them and It will be great seeing her. So Jamie took me back to where she picked me up and I continued to walk. Once again I noticed how the country side was so beautiful. I walked a few short miles to the Martin State Park and decided to wait on them there because there was parking room for them. On Rt 50 that I was on you could walk for a few miles without seeing a place to pull over and park. At around 3 pm the 60 minutes crew showed up. They are Stephen Taylor the producer, Nick Lee the Camera man, Tara Brown the Correspondent, and Micheal Breen the Sound Engineer. They left Cheryl back in Schoals and wanted to get me rigged up with a microphone so they could film Cheryl showing up. Soon we were ready and Cheryl came pulling up. It was great seeing her and for a moment we were both caught up in a emotional moment. After that we spent rest of the daylight making short films of me walking. At dark they filmed me setting up my tent and even with me inside as I normally am when I go to bed. After that we all went back to Vincennes because they had rooms there reserved for me and Cheryl and they wanted to film me walking over the bridge into Indiana again. We had a wonderful night and I was getting the feeling of being spoiled. This is the 3rd day in a row sleeping in a soft bed. But this evening was special. I was with Cheryl. Steve, the producer, told Cheryl to take me to a nice dinner on him. So we went back to the nice Amish Restaurant. All in all it turned out to be a great day and a wonderful evening. Take care all, Gary, "Keep on Walking, one foot in front of the other." |
